This paper presents a detailed electro-mechanical performance analysis of the three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) surface-mounted permanent magnet (SPM) motor. The BLDC SPM motor operates at the rated load and rated constant rated speed conditions. The electro-mechanical characteristics of the BLDC SPM motor include the air-gap magnetic flux distribution, mechanical torque, torque ripple, mechanical output power and electro-mechanical losses. The two-dimensional (2D) finite element analysis (FEA) is utilized to model and numerical analysis of the BLDC SPM motor.
